Pray concerning the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, in this time of great sorrow and need, we ask you to hear our fervent prayers.  Deliver us from the peril of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  Give wisdom and skill to all those who work to end this tragedy. Sooth the suffering and comfort the affected especially the families of those who have died and the people who earn their living from the Gulf.  May your justice and righteousness reign.  In your great compassion, restore the beauty and bounty of the Gulf waters and coastline.  And give us awareness of and respect for all you have created, that we may be ever-faithful stewards thereof; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.
