The Annunciation Mission, a ministry of the Free Church of the Annunciation, is located in the Broadmoor, the heart of New Orleans. When the levees breached following Hurricane Katrina, Broadmoor and the Church sustained up to ten feet of water for over four weeks. The storm was especially devastating to the 500 families in Broadmoor living at or below the poverty level.
Hurricane Katrina inflicted damage upon our community but also served as a rallying point for rebuilding New Orleans better than before. The entire city is being revitalized almost exclusively through the resources of individuals, faith communities, private foundations, universities, and corporations.
For the first year and half after the levees failed, Annunciation provided relief to over 85,000 New Orleanians. Since we have transitioned from relief to rebuilding, we have hosted almost 5,000 volunteers and provided over $3,000,000 worth of rebuilding assistance to the community.
In Broadmoor and New Orleans, you will find an ongoing need for help. But a great foundation has been laid by volunteers like you, who have come to our aid from all over the world.
Come and help rebuild this great American city!
